The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Uche Ekwunife has briefed the leaders of Awka community on the ongoing road construction project she attracted to the community.
The Senator through a delegation led by the former Commissioner for Women Affairs Anambra State, Lady Henrietta Agbata on Tuesday 22nd September 2020 met with the President General of Awka Development Union who was ably represented by the Administrative Secretary of Awka Traditional Council and Treasurer Awka Development Union, Chief Alex Nwachukwu and the Public Relations Officer Awka Development Union, Comr. Emma Onyejiaka. Also present to receive the delegation was the President of Awka Youths, Comr. Arinze Oguebego.
The delegation also include, Awka South PDP Chairman, Barr. Emma Odum; Awka Ward 6 PDP Chairman, Dr Felix Nwanna; Fmr. Anambra State House of Assembly member and Fmr. SA State Assembly Liaison under Gov. Peter Obi, Hon Barr. Sylvester Okeke; Awka South Coordinator of Senator Uche Ekwunife Campaign Organization (SUECO), Onyi Nwokeke; Awka Ward 6 Coordinator SUECO, Nonso Nweke; Iyiagu Coordinator SUECO, Comr. Alexander Ubani; Legislative Assistant to the Senator, Mrs Ifeyinwa Chinwuko; Head, Anambra Central Senatorial District Liaison Office, Chinonso Ofozoba amongst others.
Speaking on behalf of Senator Ekwunife, Lady Agbata stated that the Iyiagu Awka road construction project is one of many projects attracted to the Senatorial District by the Senator. She noted that the Senator is officially briefing the community on the status of the road project in order to enable the people of the community keep an eye on the project.
Lady Agbata equally used the opportunity to extend the Senator’s appreciations to the people of Awka for the massive support they gave her in the last election. She noted that the Senator is fully committed to fulfilling her campaign promises to all the communities in the Senatorial District.
In his reaction, the representative of the President General, Chief Alex Nwachukwu expressed delight on the execution of the road project. Chief Nwachukwu stated that both the Traditional Ruler of Awka, Igwe Gibson Nwosu and the President General, Engr. Tony Okechukwu are excited about the ongoing project which will, according to him, improve the status and aesthetics of the Awka capital city.
Speaking further, Chief Nwachukwu described Senator Ekwunife as a visible figure in the Nigerian Senate and a representative whose capacity to deliver dividends of democracy to the people is known to all and sundry. He prayed God to continue to strengthen the Senator as she strives to offer quality representation to the people of the Senatorial District.
On his part, the President of Awka Youths, Comr. Arinze Oguebego welcomed the road project with excitement. He noted that the Senator beyond showing interest in the infrastructural development of Awka community, has equally empowered many youths in the community.
It is pertinent to note that Senator Ekwunife has remained passionate about the state of Awka as a capital city. She had in many instances called on the State government to improve the state of the infrastructure in Awka considering its position as a metropolis. She is equally determined to provide more dividends of democracy to Awka and other communities under her Senatorial District. This is evident in some of the projects she had either commenced or completed in several communities in the Senatorial District.
