Yesterday, 16th of May, 2020 was a day to be a proud member of the People’s Democratic Party and indeed a proud Anambrarian as the People’s Democratic Party in Anambra State ably led by the State Chairman, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu raised the sum of 125 million Naira to cushion the effect of Covid-19 pandemic on the citizens of the State.

In an event which could be described as the first of its kind, leaders and stakeholders of the party in an unprecedented expression of unity came together to show love to Ndi Anambra.

The leading opposition party in the State in its efforts to bring succour to the most vulnerable in Anambra communities, commenced the distribution of 5000 cartons of noodles and 5000 bags of rice as palliative to those who are most hit by the economic challenges brought about by the pandemic.

One of the major donors to this initiative led by the Vice Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections and the former Governor of the State, Mr Peter Obi is the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Uche Ekwunife.

We may recall that Senator Ekwunife had previously held many batches of Covid-19 palliative distribution across Anambra Central Senatorial District. During this period, she facilitated the distribution of bags of rice, cartons of noodles, tubers of yams, hand sanitizers, face masks and hand gloves across her Senatorial District.

While there may be many interpretations to this laudable gesture by PDP leaders in Anambra State, the party has shown its commitment to the welfare of Ndi Anambra. By this act, PDP members have shown readiness to unite their individual ambitions towards achieving established common goals.
