Sen. Ndu counters Senator Ekweremadu-; Says There is written zoning, rotation of governorship position in Enugu

A former Senator of Enugu West senatorial district, Senator Ben Collins Ndu, a position currently occupied by Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has faulted the claims by Ekweremadu that there was never a time the state political stakeholders met and agreed on any zoning formula that will enhance rotation of power among the three senatorial districts in Enugu state.

It would be recalled that while unveiling his blue print of development of state come 2023 tagged, “A pathway to a New Enugu state” on Friday, March 11,to news men in Enugu Senator Ekweremadu said he was not privy to such documents,describing the claims as very untenable and unsubstantives.

But briefing News men yesterday,being Tuesday,March 15,Senator Ben Collins Ndu,with members of Enugu West senatorial district socio pressure known as “IFEMELU NMA” (Worth’s doing well) said that Senator Ekweremadu participated at a 50 — man Enugu state PDP stakeholders meeting held on July 7,2013 at the state government house Enugu,at which it was agreed that the state governorship stool should move to Enugu North Senatorial district(Nsukka Cultural zone) in 2015, and thereafter return to Enugu East Senatorial district in 2023,So as to resume the cycle of zoning which has enthroned peace and unity in the polity of Enugu state.

Senator Ben Collins provided documents acclaimed to be minutes of that particular meeting of Enugu PDP political stakeholders held on July 7,2013,indicating the motion was moved by Chief Dubem Onyia , a former minister of foreign affairs, ,seconded by himself Senator Ben Collins Ndu, while the amendment of the motion was moved by Barr. Charles Egumgbe, the pioneer state PDP chairman,without any counter motion.

Part of the document showed where Senator Ike Ekweremadu was fourth on the list among those who agreed on and signed minutes of the meeting alongside Dr Okwy Nwodo,Senator Ayogu Eze, Hon Pat Asadu Senator Gil Nnaji, among others.

Senator Ndu stated,” I wonder why my brother and friend, Senator Ike Ekweremadu,who was physically present in the caucus meeting and who is a Christian, last Saturday at Solid FM,during Lenten period,told a big lie that there’s no zoning in Enugu state “

“For records purposes and to avoid any benefit of doubt,There is written zoning and rotation of governorship position in Enugu state”, Senator Ndu stated

However, Senator Ndu whio described Senator Ekweremadu as a brother and a team player expressed optimism that Senator Ekweremadu at the long run will recant his quest to run for governorship seat of Enugu state in 2023,in the interest of peace and unity, which the political culture of zoning has enthroned in Enugu state.
