Sen. Ekweremmadu visits UNIZIK

Former Deputy Senate President and Chairman, South East Caucus at the National Assembly, Senator Dr. Ike Ekweremmadu on Friday paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Charles Esimone, FAS.

Sen. Ekweremmadu disclosed that he was on a tour of tertiary institutions in the region to appraise the situation especially with the current challenges they are facing nationwide in a bid to finding possible ways to render assistance.He stated that UNIZIK is the first port of call of his visit.

In his words, “We are here to identify with the Vice-Chancellor and to encourage him on the path of excellence because Education is one of the core values of the people of the South-East and we must not let our guards down. For some of us, we wouldn’t have been where we are today without Education. This is why it is very important that we must encourage Education pursuit, training and everything around it.”

In his remark, the Vice-Chancellor expressed delight over the visit by the Senator and his entourage, describing it as a step in the right direction. While enumerating the challenges facing the University, Prof. Esimone expressed optimism that the visit would yield great benefit for the institution. He commended the Senator for the gesture while calling on his colleagues to toe this path in ensuring that tertiary institutions within the region are not neglected.

Present at the meeting include the former Dean, Students Affairs, Professor Stan Udedi, Political chieftains from Enugu state.
