Regent, others laud Oba people for raising funds for Central Palace

Regent of Oba, Prince Noel Ezenwa, President General, Rev. Chris Emelie, Chief Okwuduba Anyaorah (Ijele Oba) and others have lauded Oba people for voluntarily donating funds towards the EzeOkpoko Permanent Central Palace (EPCP) project.

Speaking at his palace, Oba, Idemili South, Prince Ezenwa said he was excited that the Oba sons and daughters resident at Lagos unanimously donated bountifully beyond his expectations towards the EPCP project.

“Concerning the project launching, I am overwhelmed with joy. The money we realized was huge. I have never seen this kind of love, unity and commitment concerning the affairs of Oba.

“It was an incredible show of love. Like a joke or drama we were surprised starting from those who committed 10,000 naira to those who donated in millions of naira,” said Ezenwa.

He further appreciated various groups like ‘Ibeayifa’, ‘Oba Brothers’, ‘Obaezue’, ‘Adaeze Club’, ‘Oba Youths’ and ‘Umuada Oba in Diaspora’ for their immense contributions to various developmental Community projects asking God to bless them.

According to the PG, Rev Emelie, Myself, Regent, OPU Secretary, Mr Amaechi Aghaonu, Chief Boniface Onyeka(Okom II), Nze Ifeanyichukwu Onwupenata (Ogbataonua Oba) and Chief Ben Chibueze (Igbaluogige Oba) travelled to Lagos to witness the EPCP Launching.

“I thank God that people are embracing the good change in the governance of Oba. The launching was successful. People were even calling from outside to make donations because they have the welfare of Oba at heart,”said Emelie.

Moreover, Chief Anyaorah (Ijele Oba) who noted how he proposed the idea of the EPCP during the reign of Late EzeOkpoko 1 praised the Regent,PG, cabinet members and community stakeholders for adopting and executing the vision.

“I am the happiest person. There is nothing wonderful than seeing your brainchild being generally accepted and gradually becoming a reality even when there is no personal interest attached.

“The day I suggested of Oba having an EPCP I was almost misunderstood but I am sure the late Igwe Peter Ezenwa in his wisdom instructed his son, the Regent not to make light of the proposal.Today even women and children are donating towards this unifying project,”said Anyaorah.

Also, Nze Onwupenata(Ogbataonua Oba) and member EPCP Land committee eulogized Lagos brethren saying that the EPCP is just like a Government house where anyone who emerged EzeOkpoko Oba will use as an administrative Office.

“Just as we have ‘Ana ofo’-kindred land or ‘Obi’-Parlour that binds a kindred together and managed by the eldest kinsman which another inherits at his demise, so is the EPCP, it is something that binds Oba people together,” said Onwupenata.

However, Chief Samuel Odinammadu (Ikeora Oba) called everyone to support the EPCP project saying that he has redeemed his own pledge. He also urged other communities to emulate the idea of having a central palace.

“EPCP will aid democracy because people can boldly express themselves without fear of being sent out. Even if you have an issue with someone it will not hinder you from attending functions at the palace,”said Odinammadu.

Chief Onyeka said:”Oba is a great town. We were made happy at Lagos because of the show of love for our community. The journey has begun, let Oba people join the moving train”.

Meanwhile, Barrister Felix Uzor (Ichie Enyi II of Oba) who has also donated towards the EPCP project described modern eraTraditional rulership stool as an institution which could be accessed by both the poor and the rich.

Chief Akonam Emekekwue (Akuatuegwu Oba),Chief Sunday Agulefo(Ichie Akanaano) and Chief Felix Nwosu(Ezeufonna) in their seperate speeches eulogized the project, the donors and EPCP committee praying God to reward all contributors.
