Reconstruction Of Sakamori: Ogbaru traders praise Soludo
By Polycarp Ifeanyi, Onitsha
As Anambra State Government through the Ministry of works and Infrastructures Awka has began to fix collapsed portion of Sakamori beside Ogbaru Main Market, Market stakeholders ranging from Board of Trustees (BOT), Patrons, Executives, Sectional heads, and line Chairmen in their separate speech eulogized Governor Soludo for responding to the plight of the traders.
Expressing his gratitude to the Governor, the President general of the Market, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu who led the traders to the reconstruction site reiterated that the incumbent administration in the State under the leadership of Professor Charles Soludo is doing extremely well.
He explained that the quick response by Governor Soludo in fixing the Sakamori prompted the stakeholders and leaders of their Market to visit the reconstruction site to assess the level of the ongoing work and thanked the Anambra State government for hearing the cry of the traders.
He said” One good turn deserves another. As we are thanking the Governor and the State Government, after this project, they would be able to fix another collapsed Sakamori for us because it remains another one” Said Ochiogu.
Chief Ochiogu however commended the contractor handling the project for their speedy work, saying that they have on their own little way assisted the contractor by providing accommodations and security where they are packing their tools even as he promised to be supporting them until they deliver the project.
He further asserted that Ogbaru Main Market deserves to benefit from the State Government, saying that the Market is doing well as well as supporting the State Government in its program, lamenting that over 50 shops were engulfed by erosion through the damaged Sakamori.
He also expressed optimism that after reconstructing the Sakamori, many shops would be restored, which he said would increase revenue base of the state government if traders occupy the shops and start paying stallage fees.
” So, we are delighted for the reconstruction of the Sakamori because it is advantageous to traders and the State government. Again, it will serve as evidence of what I had been telling traders that Soludo is doing well” Ochiogu concluded.
Similarly, two former President general of the Market, Chief Anthony K. O Emedosi and Eugene Nwanekezie in a special way praised Soludo for listening to the cry of traders by reconstructing the Sakamori, soliciting him to ensure that the contractor would deliver quality work on the project.
They assured Soludo their continued support both now and in his second tenure bid, even as they lauded Chief Ochiogu who they said attracted the attention of the State government to the collapsed Sakamori.
Speaking on behalf of the contractor handling the project (Strazbourg Investment Nigeria Ltd), Engineer Victor Abuchi Chukwunyere assured that they would deliver the project in less than three months, saying that the job is not simply as it looks physically.
He affirmed that traders of Ogbaru Main Market are supporting them, provided accommodations for them and secured a place where they are packing their tools through their President general, Chief Ochiogu, commending them for their benevolence act as well as assured quality work delivery.
Other traders who spoke and thanked Soludo included; One of the Sectional heads, Chief Emmanuel Nwadibia and Chairman of all Chairmen, Mr. Chinyereugo Nwamaduka amongst others.
