Proposed #14.7Billion Secretariat, a master piece idea, road dualization a need

Of recent, Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state broke the news on the state government plan to construct a befitting state Secretariat along shendam road ,Lafia,the Nasarawa state capital.

This plan for the propose Secretariat building was discussed to newsmen by the state commissioner of information,Comrade Dogo Shammah ,after an emergency state executive council meeting in government house Shendam road Lafia .

Among several decision taken at the executive council meeting,the plan by the state government led administration of Engineer Abdullahi Sule, build the state Secretariat complex for efficient civil service working condition,will be captured in the 2021 state budget to enable the award of the contract for the complex.

The Authority report that Nasarawa state civil servants since it creation operates in different complexes,where some ministries ,like MA&WR,MoH,MoL&S and the MoE are along jos road,MoCT&I, MoE&MR,MoW,MoFB&P and MoWA&SD are hosted in the complex of the former deputy governor’s office ,while the MoSYD in a different location,behind the Lafia city square.

The idea by the governor Sule administration to have all these civil service operational offices in a particular area as planned by the government has received aplus by some stakeholders in the state.

However ,some are of the view that the propose site for the would be new Secretariat building,would further multiple traffic congestion along the shendam road, therefore the need arises for the dualization of the road from Total junction to the Secretariat site before embarking on the construction of the Secretariat.

The Authority report that Shendam road is where the government house, state assembly complexes ,the Ministry of Justice among other federal agencies have their offices.

Senator Al-Makura ,the immediate past governor of the state had earmarked the area and named it Three Arms Zone, that has attracted governor Sule’s interest to continue in that respect.

As cheering as this news is ,civil servants in the state awaits improved reforms of their working conditions under the current administration,hoping that the state assembly will also support the plan construction of the Secretariat,while priority will be given to the dualization of the shendam road on time to ease traffic.

Nasarawa state from 2011 till date has witnessed changes in infrastructure and improved revenue generation,as well as human developments which signals that in the near future the expected technological globalisation shall be attained.
