From Francis Nansak.

The Nasarawa Broadcasting Service NBS, a state owned media outfit established long before the creation of the state is now in limbo.

This is occasioned by the appointment of the General Manager, Barrister Yusuf Musa , by Engineer Abdullahi Sule, the Governor of the state ,as permanent secretary.

Going by the appointment of Yusuf Musa and in accordance with the lay down civil service rules,a substantive replacement would have been now named to fill in the vacuum created by the appointment,as it is against civil service norms that a permanent secretary will act as a head of an agency.

Findings revealed that a former commissioner,Mallam Jameel Zakari, Muazu Madaki, Aloko Flashman, Patricia Akawu, Hajiya Hadiza Dahiru, Engr. Isa Maiwada, Mohammed Osuleiman among others, have been interviewed as likely persons to have taken over the job ,since barrister Musa Yusuf is now a permanent secretary.

But none has been announced as GM of the broadcasting station, causing a huge setback in its operation as departmental operations is now the order of the day, which has worsened coordination of programs and affecting the effectiveness of the staff, much more that the former,Barrister Yusuf has not handed over to the most senior officer in accordance to the civil service rules.

It would be recalled that the state Governor,Abdullahi Sule ,recently appointed permanent secretaries in the state after about Eight serving permanent secretaries retired from service ,to which the former GM , Yusuf was favoured to be appointed among the newly inuagurated PS ,but has not handed over ,due to a yet to be appointed General Manager, who will take over the management of the state broadcasting station.
