President Anambra Barrow pushers Union laments criminal tags often labels on his members.*Urges Gov. Soludo to rescue members from vigilantes, Anti touts, revenue agents, police etc.

Mr. Ikechukwu Ezeoruchalu the President general of Barrow owners and pushers association Anambra state has lamented constant labeling of barrow pushers in various markets in the state as criminals as a result of reports of thefts of goods sometimes been convened by some barrow pushers for their customers noting that the problem could have been avoided if all market authorities in the state will work together with them by allowing their union to operate in every market to checkmate it stressing that the union has a foolproof mechanism that will wipe it completely.
Disclosing this as well as explaining other matters as it concerns barrow pushers in the state while exchanging views with journalists in their union headquarters, No 82 upper Iweka road Onitsha, Yesterday, Ezeoruchalu stated that the union has the answer to the problem if authorities of various markets will allow them to come in and work in partnership with them. He explained that the union has a unique mechanism which make it possible for all barrows owned by their members to be registered with serial numbers indicating the zone each barrow operates as well as valid identity cards which made it mandatory for all members to wear while operating adding that the union also had a mandatory policy for every member to first of all before engaging a client to surrender his identity card to a client before convening a client goods which will be given back to him by the costomer after the final delivery points of goods to checkmate theft of customers goods.
Stating that the union has been doing a lot to ensure that barrow pushing in the state was rid of criminal acts, he also blamed activities of some dubious traders in various market of been behind some of these crimes attributed to barrows pushers pointing out that these dubious traders sometimes allegedly buy barrows without registering it with them, hire their cronies to use it to carry stolen goods to their stores or ware houses unnoticed and at the end when security operatives intervene in such matter will start pointing accusing fingers on barrow pushers.
On the union challenges, he first of all congratulated the Anambra State Gov. Prof. Chukwuma Soludo on his second term swearing in and thanked him for his interest in their welfare.
While stating that the union has been suffering and facing difficult challenges from all angles especially from members of local vigilantes, state anti touting outfit, revenue collectors who usually maltreats and treat them as second class citizens by deliberately using force against them to cease their barrows or extorts huge sum of money from their members on the guise that they are criminals. He listed such areas where such attrocities are committed against them to include Upper Iweka axis of Onitsha and Ogbaru, POWA and Coke market at Okpoko areas, he added that these people collect tolls from them sometime at gun point or intimidation despite Gov. Soludo order that no tolls should be collected from their members.
Said he, “we are suffering and crying for these intimidation and injustice,we are calling Gov. Soludo to investigate this and come to our rescue as we are been daily threatened which made us to operate in fear, we are begging Gov. Soludo to recognize us to operate in all the market in the state to give us a sense of belonging as we assure him that will help us to checkmate all these vices attributed to barrow pushers.
