Police Take Community Policing Beyond Security as Anambra Command Flags Off National Police Day with Health, Sanitation Drive
Nigeria Police Force, Anambra State Command, has set the tone for the 2026 National Police Day celebration with a people-focused intervention, rolling out a statewide sanitation exercise and free medical outreach aimed at deepening community trust.
The initiative, which cut across the eight Area Commands and 56 Divisional Police Headquarters, witnessed active participation of officers who engaged in environmental clean-up, reinforcing the link between public safety and a healthy environment.
Residents and officers alike also benefitted from a free medical outreach, where basic health checks and consultations were provided; an effort the Command says reflects its broader commitment to citizen welfare beyond conventional policing duties.
Speaking on the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Orutugu Ikioye, through a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the activities form part of a strategic lineup to mark National Police Day slated for April 7, 2026, noting that the Command remains focused on strengthening police-community relations through impactful engagements.
The Police Chief reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to community-oriented policing, emphasizing that such initiatives are designed to build trust, encourage collaboration, and promote a safer society.
The Command further urged residents of Anambra State to continue supporting the Police in their efforts to sustain peace and security across the state.
