Police parade 34 suspected criminals in Calabar

The Cross River State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has paraded 34 suspected criminals in Calabar.

The suspected criminals were paraded at the State Command Headquarters, Diamond Hill by the new Commissioner for Police, Abdulkadir Jimoh.

Giving a breakdown of the suspects, Jimoh said they comprise 10 armed robbers, 6 kidnappers, 6 cultists, 3 sea pirates, 5 murderers, 2 rapists, 1 drug vendor and 1 fellow who possessed a fire arm.
He said the suspects paraded include a six man gang lead by Nse Nse Otu Bassey aka lion that kidnapped Ekwele Ignatius Agube, the wife of a serving Judge in the Court of Appeal, Justice Ignatius Agube.

CP Jimoh said “Intelligence Response Team IRT operatives attached to the FBI deployed to the state to assist the commissioner of police in cross river state arrested six of the notorious robbers including the gang leader and recovered two locally made pistols.

“Suspects arrested confessed to kidnapping of Mrs Ekwele Agube and many other innocent citizens in cross river state “, he said.

He said 8 firearms and 5 ammunition were also recovered from the suspects  and urged members of the public to join hands with the police to fight the Hydra headed monster of crime in the state.
He added that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, NPM, mni has resolved to bring community policing to the door step of citizens at all levels.

The command he emphasized has strategised  and mapped out an onslaught on cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping and other social vices across the state  and will never renege on this no matter whose ox is gored.
