Police kill 2 enforcers of sit-at-home declaration in Ebonyi
Ebonyi State Police Command on Tuesday said it has killed two suspected sit-at-home order enforcers at Okposi community in Ohaozara LGA who had invaded the area and started shooting sporadically into the air to instil fear and tension among residents.
Commissioner of Police Augustina N. Ogbodo made this known in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Abakaliki on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya.
She stated that two hoodlums, Emmanuel Edwin and Chigozie Udeh, were apprehended and valuable items recovered from them.
The commissioner stated that the hoodlums engaged the cops in a gunfight, which resulted in one of them being neutralised while another was arrested unconscious with bullet injuries but later gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
“Some armed men suspected to be IPOB/ESN members went to Okposi in Ohaozara LGA and started shooting sporadically into the air. On receipt of the information, the operatives of the command immediately swung into action by giving the hoodlums a hot chase,” she stated.
A blue Highlander jeep riddled with bullets, a pump-action gun, five live cartridges, four mobile phones, a Sumec Fireman generator, charms, and various shop-robbed provisions were recovered from the suspects.
Also recovered from the hoodlums are red and black face masks, 10 expended pump-action gun cartridges, and nine expended shells of AK-47 rifles.
