Philanthropist presents award to overall best Student in mathematics for 2023 JAMB

Anambra State born philanthropist and oil magnet, Dr Abraham Ikechukwu Otti, Saturday, presented an award and laptop computer to Master Lotana Azuokeke, the best student in Mathematics for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Azuokeke, a native of Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, who finished from Bishop Otubelu Juniorate, Trans Ekulu-Enugu, Enugu State, scored 99 over 100 to emerge overall best in Mathematics nationwide but polled a total of 337 in the JAMB-UTME.

Mr Chikezie Chinedu, the Convener, Anambra Man of the Year Award, while making the presentations in Awka, on behalf of the philanthropist, said it was facilitated by the organisation with a view to celebrate, inspire and encourage the younger generation to work harder in their academics and other endeavours.

According to Chinedu, Otti, who is the beneficiary of the 2022 Anambra State Man of the Year award is a humanist and philanthropist of repute, and had decided to honour the student as part of his commitment to give back to the society, even as he has intention to sustaining it.

He added that the philanthropist would equally extend an award and gift to Miss Kamsiyochukwu Chinyere Umeh, another Anambra State native, who came out tops nationwide with her 360 scores in 2023 JAMB-UTME but scored 98 over 100 in Mathematics.

Speaking in an interview, the award recipient, Master Lotana Azuokeke, who aimed to study Electrical/Electronic Engineering at University of Nigeria Nsukka, thanked his parents, school and the philanthropist, noting that the award would spur him to double efforts to attain greater hight in life.

Also speaking, the mother of the awardee, Mrs Lilian Azuokeke, said she would put in more efforts in advising and encouraging her son, Lotana, to study and become the best both at the University and in labour market.
