Amansea-Ebenebe-Ugbenu-Awba Ofemili Road Built With Solid Materials, Can Last 20 Years – Monarch
…….Community Demands Extension To Ayamelum, Inter-Communal Link Roads

The traditional ruler of Awba Ofemili, Igwe Ernest Maduagwuna, has described the newly constructed Amansea-Ebenebe-Ugbenu-Awba Ofemili road as a high-quality, solid project capable of lasting over twenty years without defect.
Igwe Maduagwuna stated this during the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, Press Week / Man of the Year Medical Outreach held at the Civic Centre, Awba Ofemili, in Awka North Local Government Area.
He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for constructing the road, which he said has ended years of isolation for the community.
“When people are talking, you know NUJ is the eye of the people. By the time you passed through the road, I do not think you recorded the type of road they are talking about. The road is built with high quality, it is solid and can last over twenty years. We have not recorded any defect on this road,” the monarch said.
He however appealed to the state government not to terminate the road at Awba Ofemili.
“The only prayer we are praying is that this road will not stop here. We are asking the government to extend the road to Ayamelum so that Awba Ofemili will not be the end of the road for communities in Anambra State. Linking the road to Ayamelum is almost twenty-five minutes drive to Nsukka in Enugu State, to Kogi and Abuja,” he added.
Igwe Maduagwuna also praised the NUJ for choosing Awba Ofemili for its medical outreach, noting that it was the first time the union was giving back to the community in such a manner.
“I am very glad to receive NUJ in Awba Ofemili today because we have not seen it like this before – that NUJ can give back to the society and not just receive from the society. You can see that there is improvement in social responsibility as far as NUJ is concerned.”
He used the opportunity to highlight the community’s health challenges, lamenting that the lack of qualified health personnel and facilities had led to avoidable deaths.
“Government has provided us with good road, but in terms of health we are lacking a little behind. Some months ago we recorded about two women that lost their lives during childbirth. We are asking the government to provide us with complete health facilities with resident doctors and nurses. We have limited maternity and no personnel,” he said.
In the same vein, the traditional ruler of Ebenebe, Igwe Christopher Nnaegbuna, thanked the Anambra State Government for the Amansea-Ebenebe road, but appealed for intervention on the road leading to his palace which is threatened by erosion.
He also called for the opening of the Ebenebe-Mgbakwu road that connects the community to its local government headquarters at Achalla.
