By Felix Oti, Awka
The Chairman of the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission, Barr. Chuks Ezewuzie, has mourned the passing of his stepfather, Late Mr. Felix Okoli Ezeonwu, popularly known as Oxford, who died at the age of 97.
In a tribute personally signed by him on Monday, Ezewuzie described the deceased as his benefactor, his chosen stepfather, and the instrument of God’s purpose and prophecy for who and where he is today.
The statement reads in part:
“To God be all the glory for your longevity. At the great age of 97, you remained sharp, thoughtful, smart, intelligent, caring, and loving. A great loss but an unforgettable memory. Thank you, sir. Adieu, my world of philanthropy and the gracious face of hope and future since 1973. May the good Lord, before whom you now stand, reward you for being an instrument of divine mandate and a ladder with which I am still climbing.
My tears cannot bring you back. My grief cannot stop you. My hope is to be to someone what you were to me. I trust that I will continue to do for others what you did for me. My commitment to the disability community was nurtured and fueled by your passion for their well-being. You taught me to care for them and I have been doing that for the past 43 years, yet it feels like I am just about to start.
You are now beyond my reach, but we are not out of your sight. Your words of wisdom and advice will continue to guide my resolve to serve humanity.”
Ezewuzie prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.
