From Francis Nansak.

With the recent developmental efforts by the council chairman, Honourable Samuel Akala Gajere, Karu, communities of the area partitioned into two Development areas ,never had it so good in the past.

Karu local government area of Nasarawa state consist of Panda and Karahi Development Area, with vast lands and a population whose sole livelihood is dependent on farming, with a handful of its settlers who are either civil servants or businessmen.

Take it from what ever angle, farming activities thrive as much as business in Karu, especially that the majority of those living in Maraba,New Nyanya and Masaka migrated from the FCT Abuja due to high cost of accommodation, that found affordable shelters in Karu, giving to it proximity to Abuja, where they work and trade.

Though successive administration’s in the past have tried in one way or the other to creat a more conducive environment in the areas,a lot is yet left unattended to .

Panda Development Area is one of such community in Karu that has suffered neglect in terms of infrastructure.

The most important that the rural dwellers wish can be attended to frontally are the two entryway ,with one from Keffi and Maraba Gurku axis,an eyesore, full of potholes and gullies, despite several attempts to connect the community from all ends.

The recent commissioning ceremony of a primary health care built by the Karu local government area chairman Samuel Akala, further exposed the level of neglect the community has suffered over the years.

Panda ,is lacking good road network, portable drinking water, electricity and going by its population, there is need for a secondary health facility that can ease the over 20 kilometers to Keffi or 15 to Marataba in order to access a well established facility.

Traditional rulers ,security operatives and other stakeholders in Panda find it difficult often when a need arises that demands an emergency attention, the unimaginable of the whole circumstances in Panda is in the area of communication, which makes it more difficult for even some of the government officials in the area to communicate effectively.

However, the council chairman,at the commissioning ceremony said his administration efforts ,was aimed at complimenting both the state and Federation government drive for the provision of quality health care,as well as the fulfilment of his campaign promises to the people.
