By Julie Sylvia, Onitsha
The Onitsha South Local Government Area Council has commenced strategic road construction and rehabilitation along Creek Road/Bida Bypass and Modebe Avenue Bypass, in a major push for grassroots infrastructure renewal.
The roads, described as some of the busiest routes in the council area, are expected to ease transportation challenges and boost economic activity once completed. Residents and business owners in the affected areas have expressed optimism over the speed and quality of work already underway.
Speaking on the project, Onitsha South Mayor, Chief Emeka Orji said his administration is committed to delivering people oriented projects that directly impact daily life.
He explained that the completed roads will improve connectivity, enhance security, cut travel time, and create a better environment for businesses to grow.
Orji added that the roadworks are part of several “mega projects” planned under his leadership, noting that the council is experiencing a new wave of development driven by vision, accountability, and service to the people.
