One Prospective Corps Member Dies, Others Injured in Ebonyi Road Accident

A fatal road accident in Ebonyi State on Wednesday claimed the life of a female prospective corps member and injured others en route to the NYSC orientation camp in Afikpo. The 14-seater bus carrying 12 prospective corps members reportedly rammed into a parked truck in Amenu, Okposi, allegedly due to excessive speed. The injured were rescued by bystanders and taken to the David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS) for treatment. The Ebonyi FRSC Sector Commander, Igwe Henry, confirmed the incident but noted that specific casualty details were unavailable as victims had already been evacuated. The NYSC State Coordinator, Foluke Oladeinde, visibly distressed, also confirmed the accident without providing additional details. The victims are currently receiving medical care, and their condition is reported to be stable.
