Obiano Monitors Resumption Of Socio-economic Activities In Anambra

Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, yesterday went around Awka and environs, as well as Onitsha, to survey compliance to the Government directive on resumption of Socioeconomic activities against the background of the now-cancelled sit-at-home – order by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana, reports that the Governor, in company of members of the State Executive Council, visited banks at Ziks Avenue Awka, to monitor compliance.

As expected, many banks were open for commercial activities.

Some of the bank’s staff told the Governor that but for the absence of customers, they were ready for business.

Governor Obiano used the occasion to call on Ndi Anambra to go about their businesses without fear because the State Government has provided adequate security.

The Governor and his team also visited Eke Awka market where, though some shops were closed, many traders brought out their wares to attend to customers.

Governor Obiano, who also took to the streets to monitor compliance, urged people to disregard any counter-directive to the one his Government issued and come out to sell their goods and services.

The Governor said it is important for Ndi Anambra to heed the directive because of its huge economic benefits and emphasized that adequate security has been provided in the State.

The traders on sighting the Governor and his entourage sang his name in jubilation.

Meanwhile, traders at Ajasa Market, Onitsha came out to do businesses, in line with Anambra state Government’s directive.

Governor Obiano, in company of his team, encouraged the traders to continue to make their daily living without fear of molestation by any individual or group.

It is worthy of note that the Governor grew up and lived at number 13, now number 11 Ajasa street with his parents for thirty years.
