Obi Cubana’s Good Shepherd Anglican Church dedicated at Oba

The Good Shepherd Anglican Church Oba cathedral and Parsonage built by the Chairman, Obi Cubana Group, Chief Obinna Iyiegbu (Obi Cubana) has been dedicated by the Bishop on the Niger, Rt. Rev Dr. Owen Nwokolo.

Obinna Iyiegbu and his brother, All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA) candidate for House of Representatives Idemili North and South constituency, Chief Ikenna Iyiegbu (Ike Cubana) said that the Church was built in memory of their parents Late Chief and Mrs Alex Iyiegbu who brought them up in the way of God, taught them hard work and philanthropy.

The church projects were promised after the burial ceremony of their mother Late Ezinne Uche Iyiegbu in 2021 which brought Obi Cubana and Oba community in the lime light.

“We appreciate God for His numerous blessings upon our family. Building for God, building people and building roads and other community developmental projects are the work of God. We have been doing a lot with our resources so that life will be better and salad for everybody,” they said.

Earlier during his church/parsonage dedication homily, Bishop Nwokolo tasked the clergy and laity worshiping at Good Shepherd Anglican Church Oba, Idemili South, Anambra State to brace up for higher responsibilities in the ministry of evangelism and other church programs and projects in the Diocese.

“This church is no longer a small church but one of the most strategic church in the diocese. It is no longer walking but flying.As God has positioned this church it will benefit Niger Diocese and Church of Nigeria in the future,” prelate said.

Moreso, Rev Engr. Chidi Okenwa who was installed as the Parish priest of the Good Shepherd Anglican Church Oba said that it was the grace of God that made it possible for him to be priest in charge when the church and parsonage were completed and dedicated.

“I thank God for finding us worthy to be in his vineyard today. It is a privilege, not because we are special for many were here before me.We are just beginning, reward for good work is more work. The grace of God which brought us here will lead us higher”.

I appreciate my Lord Bishop and his wife Dr. Mrs Elsie Nwokolo(Mama Niger), my Archdeacon, Venerable Udo-Ezika, the Iyiegbu family, dedication committee, parishioners and every other person who made today’s occasion a success”,Okenwa said.

According to the pioneer vicar, Rev Joshua Chukwuemeka, we started worship inside the Central School block in 2018 but today you can see the gigantic church building here. God will continue to promote this parish, beautify the worshippers and draw the Iyiegbu family closer to Himself until they make heaven.

Earlier in his remark, the Regent of Oba, Prince Noel Ezenwa(Ezeamaalu) has appreciated the Iyiegbu family, Odu Maduekwe family and other Oba illustrious sons and daughters undertaking developmental projects in Oba community praying others to emulate them for “Odimma Oba” – the good and welfare of Oba people and community.
