NUJ ANAMBRA STATE NEW EXCO PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO UNIZIK VICE-CHANCELLOR

The newly inaugurated Executive Committee (Exco) members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Chapter under the leadership of Comrade Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu on Monday, 7th February 2022 paid a courtesy visit to UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS.

Welcoming the team, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS congratulated members of the new Exco for their emergence in the aftermath of the January 28th polls. Prof. Esimone expressed his delight that the Chairperson of the new EXCO is a member of staff and an alumnus of the institution which he described as the dawn of a new era not just for UNIZIK as an institution in terms of visibility and strengthening the UNIZIK FM Chapel of the NUJ but also for the state at large.

Prof. Esimone stated that the vision of ‘Project 200’ for the institution cannot be fully attained without the efforts of the members of the fourth estate of the realm as the media plays a pivotal role towards the actualization of global relevance for the institution. The scholar assured the new Exco of his maximum support and cooperation in all it’s programmes and activities.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the NUJ, Anambra State Chapter, Comrade Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu commended the Vice-Chancellor for the visible structural and academic growth in the Ivory Tower occasioned by the vision for ‘Project 200’. He stated that the quest to make UNIZIK one of the top 200 Universities in the globe cannot be successful without the assistance of the media.

Dr Odogwu pledged that the NUJ Anambra State Chapter will work with the present administration in ensuring that the vision of becoming the top 200 Universities in the globe is achieved. He further expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for his support to the union.

In her vote of thanks, the Vice-Chairman of the NUJ State Chapter, Comrade Ngozi Obileri thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his visionary leadership in UNIZIK. She stated the Union’s readiness to work with the institution towards achieving it’s core mandate and academic goals.

Other members of the new Exco present during the courtesy visit were the Secretary, Comrade Aloysius Ofordile; Assistant Secretary, Comrade Okechukwu Onuegbu; Treasurer, Comrade Ogemdi Ozoemena; Financial Secretary, Comrade John Ndu; the Auditor, Comrade Gloria Ilonya; Chairperson of the UNIZIK FM Chapel, Comrade Dr. Henry Duru and the Secretary, UNIZIK FM Chapel, Comrade Amaka Moneke.
