NRCS Anambra State Branch, Awka-South Division, appeals for life saving equipments, kits, to promote humanitarian values, principles
Awka South Local Government Secretariat Amawbia, yesterday went agag as people from all works of life gathered for the 2025 World Red Cross Divisional Day Celebration.
The event, organised by the Nigerian Red Cross Society, NRCS, Anambra State Branch, Awka-South Division, has its theme as “On the side of Humanity.
Speaking, the state chairman, Nigerian Red Cross Society, Anambra State Branch, Professor Charity Emelie, appealed to whealthy individuals, Philanthropist, and stakeholders to promote humanitarian values and principles by partnering NRCS towards addressing emerging humanitarian challenges as they get higher.
Professor Emelie, represented by her vice, Prince Chika Ezedigbo, while describing NRCS as a sure sign of hope, noted that their mission is to alleviate the situation of vulnerable people including those affected by disaster, epidemics, armed conflicts and the poorest of the poor in the society.
In his address of welcome, red by the Divisional Secretary, Comrade Adaobi Adigwe, the Divisional Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Ezeobi, who opined that humanitarian service depends on volunteerism, frowned that Awka South of NRCS, has absolutely nothing in order to be active in life saving mission.
Comrade Ezeobi passionately solicited undiluted support towards the procurement of life saving equipments and kits like Ambulance, stretchers, First Aid Boxes, kits for emergency responses, utility bus among numerous others to encourage volunteers.
The Divisional Day Celebration climaxed with the presentation of Humanitarian Service Awards, inspection of Guard of honour mounted by the Repol, cutting of Cake, cultural dance among others.
