NMA Members Pay Courtesy Visit To Unizik VC, Prof Charles Esimone

Members of the Nigerian Medical Association on Wednesday, paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Okechukwu Esimone, FAS. The National Executive Council is in state as part of the quarterly meeting of the Association which Anambra state NMA is hosting.

The delegation was led by the National President, Professor Innocent Ujah who doubles as the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo, Benue State.

In his remarks, Professor Ujah stated that the purpose of the visit to the University is to seek areas of support and partnership with the UNIZIK. He commended the Vice-Chancellor on the steady progress he is making in terms of provision of Medical infrastructure and safety measures he has put in place to combat Covid-19 and other health related issues that may affect staff and students of the institution.

While thanking the NMA for their timely visit, Professor Esimone commended the National and State organs of the NMA for the various roles they play as custodians of the people’s health and especially in the fight against Covid-19 which is a global health challenge. The VC further disclosed the various stages of health infrastructure being put in place in the University which include the state of the art diagnostics center and various medical equipment and the isolation center donated by spirited individuals in Anambra State.

The VC is billed to attend the weeklong meeting to contribute his ideas in moving the health sector forward in Nigeria.
