Merchant Of Light 80th Anniversary: Igwe Emelobe Decries Land Grabbing In oba …Set To Recover School Properties, Commended School Historic Achievements

The Traditional Ruler of Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State, Igwe Engr.Augustine Chinedu Emelobe has decried incessant land grabbing in his community, vowed to recover the grabbed properties of Merchant of Light School by criminal elements.
The Monarch made the disclosure at Merchant of Light School Oba during the 80th anniversary/founders day 2026 biennial convention of the school after some plea by the Old Boys of the School on the recovery of the school lands/properties
He restated his resolve to ensure land grabbing under his watch to be a thing of the past in the community and assured them of recovery of those properties
Igwe Emelobe while commending the school Old Boys Association led by Prof. Tony Nwokoye, the Worldwide President, stated that the school has been able to train people who have found themselves in various fields of human endeavour.
He pointed out that eighty years of nurturing young minds, instilling discipline, and building character is indeed a truly remarkable and historic achievement.
He mentioned that the school over the decades, has remained a beacon of learning and a source of pride to the community, producing generations of distinguished alumni whose contributions have illuminated diverse fields of human endeavour.
The Monarch commended the Old Boys for their steadfast unity, unwavering commitment to excellence and tireless efforts to preserve and advance the noble ideals upon which this great institution was built,” he stated.
Earlier in his address, the Worldwide President, Tony Nwokoye, said, “The theme of this Founder’s Day is MOLS : 80 years shining the light,” adding that this convention served not only as a home coming for all Old Boys but also it affords them the opportunity to take stock of developments of the school and determine possible areas of intervention.
He stated that inspection by the present executive showed that the school needed immediate intervention which prompted assistance from both those locally and in diaspora and they made donations that were used to rehabilitate the school.
“We are glad to report that the worldwide association and the United States branch through Enoch Ifediora Oli Foundation Trust, has taken up the modernization of the administrative block by building 16 toilets by the back view of the building and re modernization of the front elevation of the administrative block by repositioning the staircase as all can see” he stated.
He commended the Oba monarch for accepting their invitation to be present as the father of the day and for vowing to rescue the property of the school grabbed by criminal elements.
Nze Beneath Iyiegbu, one of the Old boys(76 set) and the treasurer, in his contribution stated that he was one of the student and also did his auxiliary teaching at the school before travelling abroad, his base.
Iyiegbu emphasized on the recent state of the school, tattered which he took some pictures of it, went abroad and played for help on the renovation of the school which resulted to its undergoing renovation, adding that the school tried for them and brought them to limelight
He disclosed that they have do a lot for the school but is not showing up, saying that presently he is the person directing the funds for the renovation of the two blocks of the school.
Contributing, the principal of the school, Mrs Uchendu Ngozi, commended the Old Boys Association for her quick intervention to the school adding that the association meant well for the school.
She expressed satisfaction and paid glowing tribute to the state government and the Old Boys for finding her worthy to be the school principal after 80 years of existence.
Highpoint at the event was the presentation of certificates of hard work and cash to both teachers and students.,
