Man drags younger brother to court over father’s property

A man, Zachariah Jinge on Monday dragged his younger brother, Ngusha, before a Makurdi Upper Area Court for allegedly displacing him of his birthright.

The brothers admitted that their aged father, who retired from the Benue Civil Service in 1796 was ill and currently staying with a relation.

In his petition, Jinge, alleged that his younger brother has taken away his birthright (father’s house).

”My brother collects rent from their our father’s house without my knowledge. By this, he has displaced me of my birthright as the oldest son of the family.

”All efforts made to stop my younger brother failed,” he said.

He prayed the court for an order, restraining his younger brother from further renting their father’s  houses and shop.

The defendant, Ngusha, prayed for an adjournment to open his defence.

Magistrate Dooshima Ikpambese adjourned the case until March 28 for defence.(NAN)
