Main Market Leader Warns Traders Against Violating Soludo’s Directives

Mr. Udedike Chukwuma, Leader of Great New Kingdom Line, Onitsha Main Market, has directed traders under his line to open their shops for normal business activities on Mondays in compliance with the directives of the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

Speaking to members of the line today, May 22, Chukwuma urged traders to obey government instructions and avoid actions capable of attracting sanctions from authorities.

He warned that any shop found locked during the monitoring exercise would be sealed immediately, stressing that defaulters risk heavy financial penalties.

According to him, traders who fail to comply with the directives could face fines of up to ₦20 million, while further resistance or violation of the order may attract additional penalties as directed by the governor.

He also stated that individuals seeking dialogue with the government over the matter would be required to meet certain financial conditions.

Chukwuma said that officials of the Onitsha North Local Government Area are expected to monitor activities within the market from Monday to ensure full compliance with the governor’s directives.

He appealed to traders not to fall victim to misinformation or engage in actions that could put their businesses at risk, urging them instead to cooperate with government authorities in maintaining order and stability within the market.
