Nigerian rapper, MI Abaga, has announced his intention to delve into the world of filmmaking this year. The self-styled ‘short, black Boy from Jos’ made this known on Tuesday, saying producing a movie is one of his goals for this year.

If the move goes through, MI, who is also the president of music label, Chocolate City, will join the likes of fellow rappers: Falz, Vector, Reminisce, Ill Bliss, Phyno who have turned to Nollywood in recent times. This is not to mention the likes of 2Baba, Sound Sultan, Seyi Shay, Tony Tetuila, Eedris Abdulkareem and others who have also featured in one movie or the other.

While Ill Bliss and Reminisce played major roles in Kemi Adetiba’s King of Boys Phyno featured as Pete Edochie’s on-screen son in Genevieve Nnaji-directed Lionheart while 2Baba, Sound Sultan and others featured in Dare Fasasi, better known as Baba Dee’s Head Gone a few years back.

Also, Falz, on the other hand, has appeared in the award-winning ‘Jenifa’s Diary’ and also in the box office hit, Chief Daddy just as Seyi Shay and Venctor featured in Biola Alabi’s Lara and the Beat.

Announcing his bid to join his peers in Nollywood, Abaga wrote on Instagram: “Boss mode activated this 2019. One of my goals this year that I’m gonna share… is I’m going to produce a movie. Okay now it’s out there!!! No going back.”

Despite this announcement, there is no inkling that MI will let the trail go cold on the music side of things. Regarding that, the rapper and some label mates recently released a ferocious cypher featuring top rappers on Chocolate City roster like Loose Kanyon, AQ and Blaqbonez and sponsored by Martell.
