Late Pa Clifford Alachuna Okekpe laid to rest amidst pomp, ceremony

Friday 15th October, 2021 was like yesterday when the remains of Late Pa Clifford Alachuna Okekpe aged 95 were laid to rest in his Umuomaku Community, Orumba South local government area Anambra state.

Pa Okekpe known better as Man Chicago had his Burial rites performed at St Mary’s Anglican Church Umuomaku amidst pomp and ceremony.

He died August 5th, 2021 after 12 years of losing his wife , Late Mrs Juliana Ifeyinwa Okekpe (Nee Ezeokoli) from Ezioko in Oko who died April 1st, 2009.

Man Chicago, a former Railway Corporation, NRC staff in Enugu state, and later a Stenographer with University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH, Enugu before retiring on December 23rd, 2003.

He is survived by Lady Njideka Chukwuka Anazor, JP nee Okekpe daughter, Mr Okwuchukwu Frank Okekpe , son; Mrs Chinyere Ezodike nee Okekpe daughter; Nneora Nneka Ifeanyichukwu Agu, nee Okekpe daughter; and Mrs Joy Uchenna Ekpenyong nee Okekpe daughter.

Others are Miss Juan Ifeyinwa Okekpe daughter, Miss Ebere Elsy Okekpe daughter and Mr Kingsley Ekene Okekpe ,son among many grand children.

Barr Sir G.O.C Anazor , Ikaonadi na Umuawulu, Evangelist Celestine Ezeodike , Reverend Ifeanyichukwu Agu and Mr Maurice Ekpenyong are sons in law while Mrs Nkemdilim Okwy Okekpe is his daughter in law.

www.odogwublog.com reports that in her tribute, the first daughter of the family , Lady Njideka Anazor ,JP described her late father as a man with top notch sense of reasoning, so intelligent, disciplinarian hence his advice was that they never accept defeat as an answer but to trudge on until success is achieved thus making one the best.

Controller of Corrections, Anambra state command , Nigerian Correctional Service, Pat Chukwuemeka,fsi described Man Chicago as a decent gentleman and a community leader who enjoyed grace of God all his life.

For Ven Ekene Nwafor , of the Church of the Pentecost, Awka, Pa Clifford noted he was a producer of men and a community leader while Reverend Canon Nnamdi Ajaoku, Vicar, St Mark’s Parish Umuawulu, Pa Clifford was exceptional teacher in Anglican Praying Association, APA in the 80’s, even as Reverend David Okpalo of Ebenezer Church Umuenu, Umuawulu said Pa Clifford was a wonderful and God fearing father who will be missed greatly.

His son Okwuchukwu Frank Okekpe was excited by the solidarity and turn up at the burial ceremony hence he called for blessings upon all who contributed to it’s success.
