The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) is facing backlash over an alleged cover-up of a stolen impounded excavator worth N70m. The equipment, missing since June 10, was reportedly removed from the agency’s yard using a forged release document.

One suspect, a PSP operator, has been detained, while the second, allegedly a LASTMA staff member who signed the release, remains untouched—sparking internal outrage over claims of protection by top officials. LASTMA management has yet to officially comment on the matter.
