Terrorists suspected to be from the Lakurawa group have threatened farmers in Augie LGA, Kebbi State, warning against the use of mechanised farming equipment.

Security sources say the militants vowed to kill anyone found using machines instead of cattle, sparking panic in communities already grappling with cattle rustling. Residents say they’re caught between using cattle, which are often stolen, or risking their lives with modern tools.

In April, 13 vigilantes were killed in the same area while attempting to retrieve stolen livestock. Locals are urging urgent intervention from security forces. Police say they are investigating the threat.
