Nigeria recorded a ₦668.34bn agricultural trade surplus in Q1 2025, driven by rising exports. However, stakeholders warn hunger remains due to limited food processing, insecurity, and rising food prices.

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and All Farmers Association called for improved local production, better data, and support for subsistence farmers, noting the surplus doesn’t reflect food availability. They urged the government to focus on processing and value-added exports to ensure long-term food security.
