Idemili South Chairman Flags off Second Phase of Skill Acquisition/Empowerment for Youths & Women

The Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area(ISLGA) Hon Amaka, Obi(Iyom Idemili) has flagged off the second phase of the skill acquisition training programme for youths and women in Idemili South.

The training programme tagged Skills Acquisition Training programme for youth’s and women” which would benefit over 200 young and adults facilitated through the office of Transition Committee Chairman held at the Secretariat, Ojoto.

Declaring the training open, Hon Amaka Obi urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the programme to reintegrate into the society and better their lives saying that the Solution Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo is passionate about empowering youths through various skills as a means of eradicating poverty and criminality in the state.

The Chairman further addressed the trainees and their resource persons in their respective groups, took a tour of the groups inspecting various sections/departments to observe what they had made after the flag off of the programme.

“I am delighted that youths and women of Idemili South are now taking Skill Acquisition very serious given the large turn out of persons who registered in this second phase. This is also in line with the vision of His Excellency, Chalie Nwgbafor to empower all Anambra youths to become employers of labor not just waiting for white collar jobs. I promise to continue to assist these apprentices even after their internship.

She noted that there will be an evaluation and monitoring exercise after the training, to measure progress made by beneficiaries who would be trained trained in catering, hair dressing, makeup, fashion and design, Head gear, Nylon production and ICT after which empowerment with start-up kits will follow for successful trainees.

Moreover, the Community Woman Leader of Oba, Mrs Ngozi Onwuka lauded the Transition Chairman for her ingenuity and passion for the youths and women despite being the only woman TC Chairman amongst the 21 LGA Chairmen.

“Iyom Idemili is doing excellently well. Infact, she is second to none. She is touching many lives who will in turn touch other lives. People have seen how those who passed out during the first phase have started fending for themselves and their families and have decided to become part of the moving train, that is the reason for a large number of people here today to become useful to themselves”, said Onwuka.

In their respective speeches, the community women leader of Alor Mrs Grace Uche Nwoye and her Nnobi counterpart Lady Ifeyinwa Nnekwulugo thanked the Local Government Chairman, Amaka Obi, for facilitating the programme called on the beneficiaries to make maximum use of the training as there is need for diversification in other to improve standard of living as well as the economy of the State.

Others dignitaries who graced the flag off include the Local Government Committee Team, Ward Councilors, community woman leader of Ojoto.
