Gov Ugwuanyi,Jim Nwobodo,Ken Nnamani,others celebrate Chinyeaka Ohaa

The Enugu state governor,Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi,Senator Jim Nwobodo,a former Civilian governor of old Anambra state and Chief Ken Nnamani, a former Senate President,were among the creme de creme of reputable Nigerians who joined in the grand reception to honour Sir Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa,over his accomplished civil service career.
The reception which was held on Saturday August 14,at Awkunanaw Civic Center Akpaasha, in Nkanu West local government area,was organised by “Awkunanaw Welfare Association”, an umbrella body of the 21 communities that make up Awkunanaw clan.

Chief Chinyeaka Ohaa retired as a permanent secretary in the federal civil service,who started his career in Enugu state civil service.

Governor Ugwuanyi who was the special guest of honour at the reception gave thanks to Almighty God for granting Chinyeaka Ohaa a successful career in the Civil service.

The Enugu state governor commended the people if Awkunanaw clan for deeming Chinyeaka Ohaa fit for the traditional title of “Osukwu Awkunanaw”.

The decoration and crowning of Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa as Osukwu Awkunanaw(a special breed of palm fruit) by the Awkunanaw traditional institution was one of the highlights of the grand reception.

The chairman of the occasion,Chief Ken Nnamani ,a former senate President said he accepted to chair the occasion based on the exemplary character and behaviour of Chinyeaka Ohaa,stating he is from a humble background and a reliable personality.

Sir Ohaa who also holds the custodial tool of President General of Awkunanaw Welfare Association for over a decade also received series of encomiums from the association.
The first Vice President of the association,Hon Nwabueze Nnamani in his address described Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa as a blessing to humanity.

Part of his address reads,”Awkunanaw people consisting of the twenty one communities in Enugu South and Nkanu West local government areas under the auspices of Awkunanaw Welfare Association globally and their friends are gathered this citadel of excellence and culture to recognize and celebrate one of our own who has distinguished himself in every facet of human endeavour such as being an accomplished
Accountant,Administrator, Philanthropist and most importantly as one of the longest serving Presidents of Awkunanaw Association(AWA)”.

In another encomium,his kinsmen who formed part of the planning committee including Dr Maxwell Ngene, a journalist cum lecturer, described Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa ss a role model who brought good name to the community.

While appreciating the honour,Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for finding him worthy to have served as a federal permanent secretary. He expressed gratitude to Jim Nwobodo,Chief Ken Nnamani and a former Cciviluan governor of Enugu state,Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, for their various roles in the society that impacted poditively and the success of his life both as a student and life as a career civil servant.

His appreciation read in parts,”Not least in the list of those I owe gratitude in the course of my career are Dr Mrs Sade Yemi Esan,my colleague,the present head of service of the federation(HOSF),and Dr Mrs Winifred Eyo Ita, in whose tenure as the head if the service of the federation,I was made a federal permanent Secretary”.

“I have had the good foftune to work with these rare breed of humanity,including ministers of several ministries,Aso Rock power players and a host of others at various stages of my career. And I thank all of them”.

To achieve this, Sir Chinyeka Ohaa who even though is retired civil servant but still smart and with age still on his side, is gradually yielding to the demand of his people.
He participated actively the last months,”Enugu East district rally termed( Ohaniru Nkanu land)

He also mobilised his grass roots supporters who accompanied him to the Enugu West district rally called “IFE EMELU NMA” held at Awgu local government headquarters on Saturday,August 7.
