Soludo commends Ezira community for peaceful transition of Igwe Uche, as locals celebrate Monarch’s last Ofala

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has commended the people of Ezira community in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State for their peaceful coexistence, assuring them of more dividends of democracy.

Soludo, represented by his Chief of Staff, Earnest Ezeajughi urged youths in the community to take advantage of the “One Youth Two Skills” initiatives of government to better their lots and reduce restivenes in the area.

He spoke during the last ofala festival of traditional ruler of Ezira community Igwe Samuel Okechukwu Uche. He encouraged the President General of the community, L/R Nnanyelugo Moses-Akam foe his steadfastness in championing a new era for the community.

This is coming even as the Ezira community have pledged commitment to peaceful monarchical transition following death of their traditional ruler, Igwe Samuel Okechukwu Uche.

They said contrary to what is obtainable in some communities in the state where the replacement of monarchs is characterised by violence and bloodshed, theirs would witness a crisis-free transition.

Speaking during the last Ofala festival of the late monarch, President General of the community, L/R Nnanyelugo Moses-Akam also vowed to ensure legacies of departed monarch were improved on.

He said, “We’re gathered today for the last ofala of the traditional ruler of Ezira ancient kingdom. As the PG, I galvanised all the stakeholders and entire community to ensure a memorable day.

“From tomorrow, the mourning begins and for the next one year, we’ll be scouting for the next Igwe. In the interim, I’ll be acting on dual capacity to ensure there’s peace and tranquility in the community.

“I’ll ensure all government projects reach all the nooks and crannies of the community. I’ll also ensure security in area is not compromised.

“As a committed Christian, I believe God that through prayers, we’ll have a peaceful transition which is rotatory. I’m optimistic God will give us the Joshua of our time.”

Appreciating Governor Chukwuma Soludo for massive infrastructural development he had brought to the area, Moses-Akam promised that the community would reciprocate by ensuring his second term was actualized.

“I want to appreciate Governor Soludo for his fatherly role. While I was shedding tears, he prayed for me.

“Before his emergence, we were abandoned in the bush, but since he came on board, there has been massive road network, security, healthcare, youth employment, among others.

“I’m assuring him that Ezira as a community will massively vote for him come 2025 for the second term to ensure sustainability of the good work he’s doing for us.

Also speaking, Palace Secretary, Ichie Edmond Nwafor described the Igwe as a great man who would be largely missed both by his community and his colleagues.

“We’ll not only ensure the legacy he left behind is sustained, but be built upon for a better Ezira. We also expect more support from government,” he added.

The occasion attracted several dignitaries including traditional rulers from Orumba North and South, Members of House of Assembly including member representing Orumba South, Hon Nwafor Emmanuel Obinna and his Orumba North counterpart, Hon Paul Chukwuka, Chairmen of Local Government Areas, APGA leadership, among others.
