Four injured as police foil Robbery attack in Anambra

Four persons were hit by a stray bullet in Awka, Anambra state during an attempted armed robbery attack on one Ebuka Ukeakpu.

Odogwublog.com gathered that the robbery suspect, Chukwuemeka Afor ‘m’ aged 25 allegedly snatched bag containing unspecified amount of money from the victim at a gun point.

Odogwublog.com further learnt that the Suspect, a native of Akpoga Nkanu South LGA, Enugu state, was almost lynched to death by angry mob after he was arrested while the firearm and the snatched money was also recovered from his possession.

Confirming the incident, Anambra state Police spokesman, SP Haruna Mohammed, said: “at about 1:33pm,Police operatives attached to department of operations Awka and stationed at Regina Ceali junction by Zenith Bank PLC along Enugu-Onitsha Expressway,Awka responded to a distress call of armed robbery where a hoodlum armed with automatic Pump action rifle and firing indiscriminately allegedly snatched a bag containing unspecified amount of money from one Ebuka Ukeakpu ‘m’.

“Suspect one Chukwuemeka Afor ‘m’ aged 25 years, a native of Akpoga Nkanu South LGA, Enugu state who was almost lynched by the mob was arrested while the firearm and the snatched money also recovered in his possession.

“Four persons were hit with stray pellets discharged by the suspect but none was life threatening. They were rushed to the Police hospital Awka including the suspect who was beaten to stupor by the mob and presently responding to treatment.

Haruna assured that the case is under investigation after which suspect(s) would be brought to book.
