The Transition Chairman of Idemili South, Hon. Don Unachukwu has tasked the Covid 19 taskforce members recently formed at both Local government and Political Ward levels to fish out sick returnees.

Hon Unachukwu made the call recently while addressing newsmen at the council Secretariat, Ojoto saying that despite the interstate boarder lockdown people were still sneaking in and out of the State.

He eulogized the proactive measures taken by Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State in combating the Corona virus pandemic in the state regarding it as second to none in the entire federation.
“The latest strategy is the formation of the Covid 19 taskforce at both LG and ward levels with the major task of fishing out infiltrators who defied the interstate lockdown.
“It is a laudable venture. Idemili South has twelve wards  within the seven communities of the LGA. Each ward was directed to form a 5- member taskforce.
“The five members include: Transition member/councilor (leader), Youth leader, Women leader, WDC member  of the Primary  Healthcare Center, and a neutral person which must be a woman.

“The parent body, LG Covid 19 taskforce is made up of about more than eleven members headed by myself the Chairman, others include the PRO, HOD Health, HOD Environmental health, Social Mobilization Officer health.
” The Taskforce team especially at ward level is to go about fishing out who came into the community from other states and alert the authorities for proper testing especially if the person is sick.
“They are closer to the people. They know the neighborhood and can easily recognize a new face. If they are suspicious or wary, they should report to appropriate authority.
“It will be cumbersome to carry the testing kits about from house to house. If the taskforce take the task seriously, I think Anambra will be safeguarded from spread of Covid 19 infection”, said Unachukwu.
