EU Awards €300,000 Grant to Eurocham for Advocacy in Nigeria

The European Union (EU) has allocated a €300,000 grant over three years to strengthen the European Chamber of Commerce (Eurocham) Nigeria, enhance advocacy efforts, and deepen stakeholder engagement. EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot, announced the grant during Eurocham’s 25th Annual Stakeholders Conference in Lagos, highlighting it as a significant step toward improving EU-Nigeria trade relations. “This financial support will bolster the Chamber’s Secretariat, expand advocacy efforts, and enhance external engagements on behalf of its members,” Mignot stated. The grant aims to reinforce Eurocham’s role in policy dialogue and collaboration with local governments, policymakers, and business leaders. Mignot emphasized that the support would help foster a more favorable business environment, facilitating trade and investment between Europe and Nigeria. He also linked the initiative to the EU’s Global Gateway Strategy, a broader effort to enhance infrastructure in Nigeria and across Africa. Key focus areas include digital skills, e-governance, and the expansion of fibre-optic networks. Mignot reaffirmed the EU’s commitment as Nigeria’s largest trading partner and a major investor, citing ongoing projects in agriculture, renewable energy, local vaccine production, and sustainable transportation. He expressed optimism about Eurocham’s role in identifying opportunities and advocating for a thriving business climate.
