Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, has reportedly turned a new leaf and is seeking a plea bargain, according to his lawyer, Emefo Etudo. Speaking at a Lagos High Court in Ikeja, Etudo stated that Evans has repented from his criminal past, attributing his transformation to the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and the Federal Government of Nigeria. Despite pleading not guilty to an amended five-count charge, including murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to kidnap, Evans has applied for clemency from the Lagos State Government. His lawyer revealed that a plea bargain request has been submitted through the Attorney-General’s office. “My client is now reformed and remorseful. He was once consumed by crime but has since changed. He is currently a 200-level student at the National Open University and excelled in his NECO exams while in prison, thanks to a government scholarship,” Etudo told the court. He further suggested that Evans be given an opportunity to educate young people in Lagos about the dangers of crime. Speaking to journalists after the hearing, Etudo reiterated that Evans’ transformation was made possible by the RCCG and government support, emphasizing his client’s commitment to becoming a better person.
