Senator Umeh shines in Anaocha Scholarship event

Senator Victor Umeh shined weekend when his foundation Senator Victor Umeh Education Foundation gave out One Hundred Thousand naira (N100,000)Scholarship to over seventy (70) indigent students from his constituency.

The students were selected from the seven local Government areas that make up Anambra Central Senatorial District. They are studying or to to study at any university of their choice.

The scholarship costs Umeh N7m and was a programme under Senator Victor Umeh Education foundation, set up to help students who are poor but intelligent.

Chief Umeh said that apart from the seventy beneficiaries who received a cheque of one hundred thousand naira each to study in any University, Polytechnic or Colleges of Education in Nigeria, about two hundred and fifty students are in various tertiary institutions under Victor Umeh Tertiary Education Foundation.

He said that forty physical projects will be sited randomly in all the communities in the Senatorial District, adding that 2019constituency projects will be attracted as soon as Federal Government disburses fund for the programme.

Chief Umeh  who said that the scholarship will last for as long as the duration of the courses they are studying ,also announced the he will flag of women empowerment scheme by January next year as he is waiting for the government to release the fifty million naira approved for the programme.

Earlier, the transition committee chairman for Anaocha Council Area, Mr. Ikeobi Ejiofor, who is the chairman of the committee that selected beneficiaries for the scholarship, commended Senator Umeh for touching the lives of indigent persons,recalling that one hundred and fifty one youths were trained in various skills last month, courtesy of Senator Umeh.

Mr. Ejiofor said that the scholarship would bring a lot of relief to many households, noting that such is  clear example of quality representation.

Some of the beneficiaries including Valentine Ezeani,Ifunanya Ebubechukwu, Godwin Udezor, Chidimma Okonkwo and Solomon Ikechukwuexpressed  gratitude to Senator Umeh for helping them to achieve their goal in life and promised not to disappoint him.

The event climaxed with presentation of cheques to each of the beneficiary.
