From Francis Nansak

Residents of Uke,a Community in Karshi Development Area of karu,LGA Nasarawa state, have raised alarm over lack of due services rendered to them by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company(AEDC)

They alleged that the community via individuals contributions and efforts to make life a bit comfortable, has suffered unrepentantly exploitation from the authorities of AEDC.

Some of the residents who expressed total displeasure with the way the electricity company take advantage of the small community, stated that no installation be it wires, the poles and even the transformer is the property of AEDC,as it was donated and made possible via their contributions, just to make life worth living.

The Youth Leader, Mr Riskwa Hassan ,said one of the unpleasant thing that has left him wondering,if at all the company is competent is that a donation of a transfer was made to the community by the former speaker of the House of Representatives ,as part his Community service Development to Uke,yet AEDC after several beckoning on them to install the equipment failed to heed at their plight.

He added that with the skeletal electricity supply to the community, the AEDC has subjected each house to paying a flat bill of #7000 ,whereas, there are some residence without the prepaid meter ,but the company have continued to leverage on estimated bill.

Another resident of the area Mr JohnBosco, reacted on the duration of light supplied ,which according to him ,for a whole week the community only enjoyed two days power supply.

” So how do they arrive at the kind of charges they give us monthly? How can the entire community be on flat bills in the name of estimated billing, while there are those who don’t use heavy appliances, such as iron and air conditions in their houses? He cried out.

Our correspondent observed and reports that most of the poles in Uke are at the verge of collapsing, the wires are barely hanging on roof tops, which may be dangerous to life ,when it is raining season.
