Ebonyi Governor Orders Warring Communities to Stay Away from Disputed Land
Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has declared a disputed land between Umobor-Akaeze and Ogwor-Ishiagu in Ivo Local Government Area as a buffer zone, amidst ongoing conflicts between the two communities over its ownership. Nwifuru has instructed both communities to avoid the land, warning that anyone found on it will face legal consequences. He also directed security agencies to enhance patrols in the area to ensure adherence to the directive and maintain order. A statement issued on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Grace Umezurike, also announced a meeting with 20 stakeholders from each community, scheduled for Monday, December 16, 2024.
