Dangote To Construct Students Hostels For UNIZIK

The Vice-Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Charles O. Esimone, has disclosed that the Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote is set to commence the building of two student hostels in the University.

Briefing journalists on Monday at his office, Prof. Esimone disclosed that he recently paid a courtesy visit to Alh. Dangote were they had a wonderful and fruitful discussion and as well ironed out the details of the project which is expected to kickstart next month before the end his tenure and hopefully the project would be completed before the end of the year.

Prof. Esimone informed that Alh. Dangote who is an alumnus of the institution having been awarded a honorary Doctorate Degree (Honoris Causa) of UNIZIK intends to build a male and female gigantic hostels that will address student’s accommodation need for the institution.

Esimone said: “Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka is set to have another endowment in the form of a male and female gigantic hostels to be built by the Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who is an alumnus of the institution having been awarded a honorary Doctorate Degree (Honoris Causa) of UNIZIK.

“We had a wonderful discussion when I paid him a visit recently to essentially enter a very important project that he is committed to do before now which is the construction of male and female student hostels to commence in the month of May and hopefully to be completed before the end of this year. The project would have started this month but the delay was as a result of the review of the contract because of changes in prices.

“We thank Alhaji Dangote for this wonderful gesture and we look forward to the commencement and completion of the project.” Esimone stated.
