Covid-19: Igwe Eziowelle advise Security agents, Journalists and youths to thread with caution

Igwe Mike Okonkwo Etusi of Eziowelle in Idemili North, Anambra State has advised Security agents to uphold professionalism as they enforce the lockdown order from government as a preventive measure to cub the spread of COVID 19 pandemic urging them not to see it as an opportunity to enrich themselves.

Addressing newsmen in his palace while receiving Chief Chidebere Chikelue who gave palliative packages to Eziowelle people, the monarch advised some youths who resort to rioting on matters that could be resolved through dialogue to desist from such saying that it often results in violence and avoidable loss of lives and property.

The Traditional ruler further tasked Journalists to remember to apply the social responsibility approach and avoid the dissemination of false news in order not to cause unnecessary tension on the polity.

Recalling the incident that led to loss of lives at Nkpor and Ohofia as Security agents allegedly shot some persons as they were trying to contain those who flouted the sit at home order, the Royal father said that the COVID 19 era has become a delicate situation that requires utmost caution as people carry out their duties.

“The security agents should not enrich themselves using Corona virus as a cover.They should use the powers given to them by government carefully and not resort to killing people.

“Youths should not engage in rioting over a matter that can be resolved via dialogue.

“Pressmen should report with caution,stop fake news, remove bias and partisan politics while writing. Some politicians just like Democrats in America are using the pandemic to their advantage for campaign but Journalists should not employ such when writing”, said Igwe Etusi.

He warned those defying the sit at home order to desist from such because Nigerian does not have the facilities to contain the pandemic if it spreads full blown.

His magesty thanked the state government and individuals for the palliative packages they have been donating to the less privileged.

“Government is doing their best people should appreciate that much even as we hope for more. Some of the citizens of Eziowelle have been giving succor to some indigenes but one person has been so outstanding.

“I bless one of Eziowelle son’s, Chief Chidiebere Chikelue who reached out to over 650 persons today with cash for condiments, tubers of yam, bags of rice, cartons of Noodles and is here to receive my blessings. God will continue to enrich him and his likes”said Igwe Etusi.

Moreover, the President General, Eziowelle,Barr Titus Akpudo who led the deligation of some Eziowelle illustrious sons eulogized the exploits of Chief Chikelue saying that he has put food on the tables of many families in this hard times.

However, Chief Chikelue popularly called Obiadada said he was assisting his people not for self agrandisement but saying he just decided to help those he was better off than by being his brothers’ keeper.
