COVID-19: 10,000 New police Constables stranded after training

Ten thousand (10,000) new Police Constables are now stranded after their training, www.marketvoices.ng.com can authoritatively reveal.

But the Nigeria Police force is making frantic efforts to ferry the successful 2019 Recruit Constables to their different local government areas. They emerged successful at the police training institution.

In a wireless message obtained by www.marketvoices.com.ng, from police force headquarters, the IG ordered all state Commissioners of Police, COMPOLs, to liaise with the commands and make adequate arrangement for vehicles and escorts to pick- up the constables who are indigenes of their states.

The Police IG who maintained that the directive be carried out with strict compliance said that such move would ensure safety of the constables to their various local governments especially now that most state governments have declared total lockdown in their various states.

The police wireless message with reference DTO:141530/04/2020, announcing the passing out of the Recruit constables, was copied to commissioners of police in the states of the country.

It reads: “Recruitment General Re – passing out of recruit constables. The October 2019 Recruits will pass out from the police training institutions on 24/ 4/ 2020.

“In view of of the covid- 19 pandemic and lockdown in most states, INGENPOL directs all command Compols to liaise with the commandants and make adequate arrangement for vehicles and escorts to pick- up the constables who are indigenes of their states.

INGENPOL through the message further directed that the constables should be posted to their respective LGA of origin and assured that the Recruit constables list with force number will be sent via across via official e-mail.

Southern states were allegedly shortchanged during the recruitment of the 10,000 constables and the matter is still in Federal Court of Appeal.
