Could this be PDP’s time to lead Anambra?

As the gubernatorial primary election draws near, my heart is filled with so much gratitude, and it is astonishing where God has taken me and our Ka Anambra Chawapu movement, an organisation we built from Ground Zero

When I resigned from my role at the top of Nigeria’s corporate ladder, my colleagues and mentors were a bit concerned for me. Some of them tried to discourage me from leaving my plum job as the President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc and going into what they thought was uncharted territory.

But I was resolute. I believed that if God laid it in my heart to leave my job and go on this quest to serve my people, He would also provide the wisdom and grace needed to actualise the dream.

Eventually, I received the blessings of my mentor, leader, and friend, the Chairman of Transcorp Plc, Mr Tony O. Elumelu, CON as well as many other leaders and colleagues from both corporate and political world.

Though I resigned in March 2020, I wasn’t let go entirely. Transcorp Plc, Transcorp Power Limited, and Transcorp Hotels Plc retained me on their boards as a non-executive director.

My journey with Transcorp Group finally came to an end on April 26, 2021 when I resigned from all the boards as that was the date of the last AGM before my primary election. Today, I watched the video from our 15th Annual General Meeting, which was my last as a director in the company. I was particularly moved by the kind endorsements of the shareholders of Transcorp Plc and people’s comments on social media.

All I can say is thank you. Thank you to all my colleagues and friends I met at Transcorp. As I always say, I met only angels, and I have only good memories.

Thank you to Bishop Goodluck Akpore and Alhaji Muktar Muktar, the president of the Trusted Shareholders Association (TSAN), and all the other shareholders of Transcorp Plc, who gave such glowing testimonies of my stewardship at the company.

I am incredibly grateful to my leader and friend of 17 years and counting, Mr Tony O. Elumelu CON. His uncommon leadership, love, and kindness is one I will treasure forever.

I am also grateful to all the brave men and women of the VCO Campaign Organisation for catching the dream and lighting the Ka Anambra Chawapu fire in Anambra. We are now unstoppable because of the contribution, dedication, and commitment of every one of you.

In a few days, the delegates of my party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), head to the ballot to choose a flag-bearer for the November 6 governorship poll. We are confident that our Ka Anambra Chawapu message, which is one of advancement, inclusion, and the upliftment of our people, has made us the most widely accepted candidate in the race.

We look forward to victory on June 26, 2021.

Long live PDP.
Long live Anambra!

God bless us all.
