Consider my ambition to govern anambra state as a rescue mission ~ Dr Winston Udeh

Anambra State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has maintained a gradual and consistent harvest of members, party aspirants and the crème de la crème in Anambra politics, as she joyfully added one more resource person to the list of her team of distinguished gubernatorial aspirants.

The decision of this versatile personality Dr Winston Udeh to join the race for the PDP gubernatorial ticket is not unconnected to the sanity recently restored to the party by the Hon Sir Ndubisi Nwobu led executive committee. No doubt, the PDP as presently structured has become a beehive all resourceful political activities and is undoubtedly striving to improve on the inroads already made by the current leadership. The just concluded PDP National Youth Summit hosted by Anambra State PDP is one of many resource sessions being championed by the party for both members and the society at large.

The Ndiowu, Orumba North born Dr Winston Udeh is a Lawyer, Architect, Teacher and an Investor with multinational corporations. He was accompanied to the party secretariat Udoka Estate Awka by a team of notable personalities like Hon Chief Fabian Nwosu, Nze Godwin Nwosu and Chief Chinedu Oformata.

Other prominent members of his entourage were Hon Damian Nwafor, Chief Emeka Onyeka, Ichezie Sebastine Opumere, Mrs Obiageli Nwafor, Mrs Calister Orizu, Hon Mrs Virginia Okeke and Mazi Obiora Okoli.

Dr Udeh’s opening remarks was full of insight as he started off by saying that he won’t promise that he will do this or that but must make Ndi Anambra happy if they decide to give him the mandate to emerge governor. According to him, there is a compelling need for a galvanizing hand to harness the state’s enormous resources and that is why he considered taking up the challenge.

Speaking further, Dr Udeh asked his audience if they were happy with the current situation and condition of living in the state under the APGA administration and the answer was an emphatic Noooo!!! He added that Anambra has no business borrowing money as is being witnessed presently from any Institution whatsoever considering her huge material and human resources. This he promised to address during his administration as governor.

The Member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency Hon Chris Emeka Azubogu popularly known as Mr Project arrived the state secretariat in the course of the proceedings and just like other notable PDP aspirants, Dr Winston recognized him as a brother and a partner in the quest to correct the ills of maladministration.

With his countenance beaming with smiles Dr Winston Udeh stated that among the lot aspiring for the governorship position, he consider himself most qualified to get the PDP ticket, adding that if someone like Hon Chris Azubogu happens to get the PDP ticket for which he doubts (smiling), that he will certainly give him maximum support in the general elections. At that point he told Mr Project that he didn’t mean to offend him but Hon Azubogu laughed and responded that he didn’t take any offence. That dramatic interlude was followed by a round of applause from the audience.

The State chairman of the happiest political family (PDP) Hon Sir Ndubisi Nwobu whom I believe was enjoying himself all through in his reaction commended Dr Winston Udeh and his entourage.

He singled out a particular statement where Dr Udeh declared his intention to make Anambra people happy in the course of his administration, noting that happiness is the ultimate purpose of accumulating wealth. He urged Dr Winston Udeh and indeed all aspirants and stakeholders of the party to see one another as brothers and sisters. He prayed God to grant Dr Winston Udeh good health and the financial enablement to face the task ahead.
