It was indeed a busy day at the PDP secretariat Udoka Estate yesterday as key stakeholders interfaced with the state executive of the party.

One of the yuletide visitors is the Member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency Hon Chris Emeka Azubogu popularly known as Mr Project.

Speaking during the courtesy call which was aimed at giving the party leaders account of his statesmanship and celebrating Christmas with them, Hon Azubogu who doubles as a NEC member and State EXCO member of PDP made it clear that in as much as the PDP umbrella is big enough to accommodate everyone, the person that will get the party ticket must be one that is acceptable to the electorates across party lines.

He added that such candidate must be supported by the party, internally, other PDP states and the national leadership. He expressed concern over comments that Chris Azubogu has not yet declared intention for governorship, but assured his audience that he’s been consulting and would address the party in that regards at the appropriate time.

Hon Azubogu expressed happiness over consistent growth of the party from strength to strength, stating that everybody is presently looking up to the party for 2023 presidency. He appealed to the party stakeholders to leverage on this excellent opportunity to grow stronger and consolidate on the gains. According to the lawmaker, what will happen in Anambra next year will determine what will happen in the southeast in 2023.

Mr Project also cautioned against allowing for possible alliance of failed political parties to hijack the forthcoming gubernatorial election as that will amount to taking over the southeast completely. Hon Azubogu warned against possible alliance of APGA and APC to seize Anambra State by all means possible, knowing fully well that Ndi Anambra would not touch APC for any reason whatsoever.

He expressed gratitude to the party for all her support, but especially for the role they played during his sister’s funeral and that of his late LGA chairman which were perfect indicators of the party’s compassion for brotherhood in life and death. He also commended the LGA chairmen for mobilizing patients massively from their various constituencies to the designated points of his 2020 Medical Outreach which actually ended in praises.

Speaking further, Azubogu stated that this is a brand new PDP, not that of the old other because it is being led by Obuka Awka who is caring for Anambra people and willing to drive development. He reminded members that PDP is the only party in Nigeria that is standing since 1999 while other parties comes and fizzle away.

He emphasized on the need for the electorates to get ready because they (NASS members) have worked assiduously and are still pushing at the national assembly to ensure that the forthcoming gubernatorial election is conducted with utmost sense of transparency and credibility, adding that the COVID has even made it inevitable that Anambra State will be used as pilot scheme for electronic voting system.

PDP has become the source of conversation in Anambra State as nothing can surpass the interventions of PDP leaders and public officers. The 2020 Medical Outreach conducted by Hon Chris Azubogu for instance saw over 17,100 (seventeen thousand one hundred patients) and carried out well over 760 (seven hundred and sixty) surgeries.

Fibroid cases were 130, cataract cases 340 persons, barring other very delicate general surgeries which God used the instrumentality of PDP stakeholders to make manifest and improve the lot of the citizens. Hon Azubogu expressed satisfaction with what he called a successful partnership that made the medical mission a reality, noting that all the leaders that mobilized patients would forever be endeared to those beneficiaries.

Hon Chris Azubogu concluded by notifying the party leaders of his intention to visit all the LGAs within this festive season to further interface closely with people at the grassroots because his job at the NASS assembly is so delicate that one can’t easily ignore the workload for other programs without getting things mixed up. According to him the yuletide season has provided a great opportunity to get across to the party structure and give them account of his stewardship.
