GOD BLESS OUR POPE:LP SENATORIAL CANDIDATE HAILS POPE’S CIVIC EXAMPLE, CALLS ON CHRISTIANS TO VOTE IN 2027
On receiving the cheering news that the Vatican confirmed on Friday that the American-born Pope submitted a mail-in ballot in his native Chicago ahead of November’s midterm elections in the United States, citing his longstanding belief in civic participation, the Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Anambra Central, Ven. Tochukwu Sagacious Ikezue, has described it as a profound lesson for the Church universal.
According to Ven. Ikezue, this is a true example of what the Scripture teaches about Submission to Governing Authorities; that believers are instructed to obey laws and respect governing powers, as civil order is viewed as established by God.
Key Scriptures: Romans 13:1-7, 1 Peter 2:13-15, Titus 3:1-2.
“This singular act by our Holy Father should be an example to all Christians and Christian leaders. It is time to stop organizing all-night vigils and programs on the eve of elections. Our vigils in 2027 should be at the polling units. Prayers must be matched with participation.”
He therefore called on all Christians irrespective of denomination; Catholic, Anglican, Pentecostal, to come out en masse and vote for a competent and compassionate Christian President, in the person of Sir Peter Obi, who represents equity, justice and good governance.
He further noted that the era of marginalization and insensitivity in our national politics must be brought to an end through the ballot, and that Nigerians must vote out the APC at all levels that has brought untold hardship to the people.
On Anambra Central, Ven. Ikezue was emphatic:
“In Anambra Central Senatorial District, we must retire all career politicians, some of whom have been in politics for 20 to 40 years without any tangible result. They have had their time. They should go back home and find something else to do and allow fresh, credible and God-fearing leaders to emerge.”
God bless our Pope.
God bless Anambra Central.
God bless Nigeria.
