A church was set ablaze by aggrieved youths after a 26-year-old man was stabbed to death while trying to settle a fight in Agbongbo Olunloyo, Ibadan, and the Oyo State capital on Friday, 1st of February, 2019.
It was gathered that the incident occurred following a fight that ensued between some boys in front a shop belonging to the deceased’s elder brother.
The deceased identified as Raji Adisa, a Disc Jockey (DJ) by profession, attempted to settle the dispute in order to prevent the occurrence of further chaos in the area.
He was allegedly stabbed with a sharp object in his neck by one of the boys, identified as Raphel, a 15 year-old son of a pastor in the area. It was learnt that the residents gave the culprit a hot chase alongside the deceased despite his severe injury before he died on the way to the hospital.
As a result of Raji’s death, some of his friends besieged Raphel’s house the following day in search for him but the suspect was nowhere to be found.
The angry youths met only his father who is a pastor as they seized the opportunity to set the father’s church ablaze. It was reported that the boys who are allegedly responsible for the crime are between the ages of 15 to 17 years.
According to reports, the deceased was meant to turn 27 this month prior to his untimely death.
