The outbreak of cholera ravaging some states in the North has spread to Katsina, claiming at least the lives of 60 persons.

The Commissioner for Health, Yakubu Danja, made the disclosure during this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), held at the Katsina Secretariat complex.

To that effect, the Health Commissioner said drugs have been made available for distribution to hospitals across the State.

According to Danja, enlightenment on cholera outbreak prevention and management, as well as surveillance for active case search are ongoing across the 34 LGAs in the State.

“Presently, we have over 1,400 confirmed cases of cholera with over 60 recorded dead,” he said.
